Staff Training/Animal Care

DZG has always trained keepers in-house and pioneered the system which many other zoos now use.

Trainees have a wealth of knowledge all round them to call on from other hugely-supportive staff at the Zoo.

The Advanced National Certificate in the Management of Zoo Animals, which is an internationally-recognised qualification, is the equivalent of NVQ Level 3.

The two-year course includes dedicated studies into specialist subjects and a week-long residential at Sparsholt College in Hampshire, covering subjects such as enclosure design, animal diet and record keeping.
